Arg of Tabriz
Arg of Tabriz also known as Arg Ali-shah or Arg Citadel is the remnants of a large acropolis fortification and city wall in downtown Tabriz and located in the center of the city.
It was built in 14th century during the Ilkhanate era. It is one of the most important attractions of the beautiful city of Tabriz. Ali-shah Citadel whose grandeur and splendor is unparalleled is considered one of the masterpieces of architectural art which refers to Azerbaijan style.
During the time of constitutionalism and the great uprising of the people of Tabriz, this historical building was a stronghold for the constitutionalist fighters. In the post-constitutional period, with the invasion of Russians, the people of Tabriz defended against the invasion. At this time, the citadel was the focus point of defenders.
